Case: Liver Abscess Drainage
Featured Product: eTRAX Needle Tip Tracking System
CONSIDERATION FOR USE
Patient presented with a difficult-to-see liver abscess using conventional ultrasound. Intercostal access was aided by eTRAX Needle Tip Tracking, image fusion using CT, ultrasound datasets and an ultrasound contrast medium. Needle tip tracking was useful for accurate visualization of the instrument tip.
EQUIPMENT FOR EXAMINATION
GE Healthcare LOGIQ E9 with Volume Navigation
Ultrasound contrast medium
CIVCO eTRAX Needle Tip Tracking
APPROACH TO EXAMINATION
The electromagnetic eTRAX needle tip can be visualized in precise position as it enters the skin as well as its projected path for advancement to target. The on-screen guideline reveals the direction of travel with “N” representing the actual needle tip. Actual needle tip tracking was useful for accurate visualization throughout the puncture.
